Constant lay offs!

Pros

Good intentions with diversity but a lot of performa activities like leaders LGBTQ pins for gay pride on day one of Cisco Live but following days, the pins are nowhere to be found on leader’s lapel.

Cons

Lay offs every 3-6 month to meet street expectations of revenue. ELT doesn’t care how this impacts people and stifles growth and productivity. Majority of people impacted are older (over 45) and long tenure. Lay offs create a toxic environment because it’s a kill or be killed environment. It truly is not a healthy place to work.

Pros

Cisco lives up to a lot of their promises and top level leadership leads by example in encouraging their values. Cisco provides a lot of resources and opportunities to explore what you uniquely bring to your work, lead with your strengths, practice mindfulness, and keep balance and flexibility in your life. It is a place that strives to be welcoming and supportive of diverse communities with a lot of employee resource groups to help. Their benefits are great and receiving 80 hrs per year to volunteer is simply amazing. I hope they don't cut that back.

Cons

The PTO is 20 days per year, but you are forced to use 3-4 for those days during the mandatory holiday shutdown period, so the PTO is effectively 16 or 17 days. They have had a lot of unannounced layoffs or "restructuring" since I joined. And like any large corporation, a lot of the internal processes and requirements are like navigating a maze to follow. It is also very slow to move and coming from an acquisition this was a hard transition. Also, when we were acquired, we thought we would get more resources to help, but that was not the case. Despite the ideals for how to be a good leader and make Cisco a great place to work, individual managers may or may not follow, leaving much variability in the working environment on a particular team.

Layoffs Stink

Pros

Amazing pay and outstanding benefits

Cons

Job security nonexistent. They pay people off quarterly and the logic behind who gets let go makes no sense, they let go of amazing talented people who were assets to the company. Can be very political
