      Pros

      I joined Cisco in 1995 and left in 2014. The company I joined was not the company I left. The culture of family existed in the 1990's and early 2000's. The products, technologies, and people were fantastic and still are very good.

      Cons

      Cisco now does what large companies do, which is annual layoffs. Sometimes these layoffs are actually ongoing just aren't reported as they are below 3% of the total employee population. This systemic issue leads to a culture of CYA and backstabbing, especially at executive levels.

      Pros

      Generally speaking, perks and benefits are strong, though Webex/Collaboration business unit underpays relative to other business units.

      Cons

      Rapid management turnover while there. Consultants running amok. Company was looking to deep dive into their customer usage data to pull out lots of insights. Probably a privacy concern for companies that use Webex for sensitive meetings...

      Pros

      The onsite medical facility, medical benefits, and the gym were excellent. Probably the only good thing about the place

      Cons

      Contributions only acknowledged if you are part of the right clique AND have been at the company for a million years. Not many subject matter experts and lots of things done in a very primitive fashion because management will not spend money to get things done. Executives seem to spend lavishly on themselves and seem overly compensated as individual contributors don't get so much as a cost of living raise and it is not uncommon for people to be at the same salary/grade level for years and years.
