Pros

leader in networking area flexible working hours and relaxing (sometimes layback) working environments starting salary is reasonable for new graduate Feel like home environment for foreign workers (70% of engineers are Asian. Many executives (directory, VP) are Asian (mainly Indian). A lot of talents in networking area. A great place for Assurance engineers or managers (QA) because the pay is the same as other developer or managers, no discrimination like other companies.

Cons

The pay raise is crawling slow. Need to fight with others most of the them. A lot of overlapping products among different departments Layoff is an annual ritual Constantly outsource jobs to other countries like India, China, Russia. Not enough talents in new technology. Buy company instead of building, most of the work is integration, not much learning (waste of time) unless you work for the acquired companies. Lack of internal documents on design, implementation due to job security for engineers and managers.

Pros

The people are awesome, passionate, and eager to solve problems when they're not burnt out. Cisco has a strong culture and value system.

Cons

Personal growth, the benefits are declining year over year in major ways. It's obvious the group in charge of US Benefits is pushing employees to high deductible healthcare plans, with lesser benefits than in the past. Many people are burned out after 4 years straight of "limited restructurings", aka Layoffs. It is a bit like the Hunger Games here. While those who are LR'd have fantastic packages, those who are left are forced to shoulder the additional workload, without increased pay or benefits.
