Pros

The work is interesting and challenging and you get to work with some really motivated and talented people. Our use of vendors to augment employees allows us to be flexible with our headcount and ratios while getting a lot of good work done. Change is happening so there is anyways something new to drive goals and initiatives; it doesn't get stale.

Cons

Our executives are out of touch with the general employee population and if you aren't in the right circles, it is difficult to get heard or get promotional opportunities. We talk a lot about our People Deal and how each employee matters but it feels like it is really The Some People Deal, depending on who you know. We do layoffs of good employees instead of managing our vendor population and don't facilitate moving impacted employees to open positions within the company. As a manager and leader, I usually feel the good outweighs the bad and support the leadership but I'm starting to wonder.

Pros

Everyone at Cisco is hardworking and extremely loyal to the company and it's success. The salaries and benefits are excellent that the company as a whole is world class.

Cons

Business has always been based on numbers and revenue; however since the new regime has taken over, there seems to be an increased focus on numbers and much less focus on the people who have helped create the company. The sense of loyalty that the employee feels towards the employer does not seem to be reciprocated. Senior Executives, seem to be further disconnected to staff. There is an undercurrent of insecurity, no one knows when they will be next on the layoff list. The warmth and family feeling is long gone, clearly it can't be sustained forever, but outside of a few groups the company is being run by accountants. Each organization is fighting for it's overhead and there is no feeling of we are One Company.

We know this has been a hard week for many employees, but our leadership team is making hard decisions with a heavy heart, in order to serve the greater company as a whole. Cisco stands by its People Deal and will continue to support its employees.

Pros

Pay benefits Stupid managers Certification Lab

Cons

Favoritism and discrimination. No matter what you do, if you are not a favorite, your soul will die. The company is hiring a lot of HB1 workers- great talent for cheap- to lock them for 5 years and for managers to abuse them. Bigotry and prejudice is the norm here. They are disparate for former employees to return.
