Pros

For the most part you are working with people who take the time to teach you. The majority of people working here have been here for years and are dedicated to the firm. You also have some say in what industry or industries you want to focus on. Even at lower levels you will have direct client interaction and partner interaction. You also get a decent amount of time off compared to competitors and an annual raise. If you work hard you'll get promoted.

Cons

The biggest con is typical of any accounting job - long hours from January through the tax deadline. This balances with the off-season.

Pros

Citrin has a lot of great programs to help with work life balance. There is part time, flex time, and work from home policies recently enacted that are a real asset to the employees.

Cons

Busy season is always a con of any public accounting firm. Also, a lot of firms allow jeans at this point, and Citrin is behind on that (though we do have jean Fridays).

Good place to work in public accounting

Pros

I've worked at both very large and very small accounting firms and have found Citrin Cooperman to be a good middle ground. Unlike the big 4 experience, the environment at here is laid back, welcoming to newbies, and oddly enjoyable. I've generally found the atmosphere here to make a big difference in the day to day grind. Due to the size of the engagements, you aren't stuck working on only one or two clients for an entire year (which I guess can be a pro or a con depending on what you like). Unlike smaller firms, there is a wide range of areas you can work in and people to meet.

Cons

Unlike larger firms- budgets are tighter, technology is not customized, and education/training is not as highly prioritized.
