Pros

Coworkers are mostly close and supportive.

Cons

Pay is low for sometimes dangerous work, very poor management support. If your relief calls out, they force you to stay until you can find coverage regardless of your other responsibilities.

Pros

The actual team of clinicians are very helpful and supportive and understand each other as much as they can be. the exposure to different modalities (families, community, individual, groups) and experience you will gain navigating each, is unmatched. You will acquire a lot of knowledge over a short period of time that will equip you with more skills needed for further matriculation within the field.

Cons

I worked in the Raleigh location as a Family Centered Treatment Clinician. Here are my top greivances. ... The workload is never ending. Meaning there is no start or cut off period/hr. You have to assert your own boundaries in regard to work hrs, routines, managing home, etc. However, it is very challenging to assert boundaries to supervisors and collaterals especially with the demands of the job and nature of the work itself. Furthermore it is challenging to execute an effective time management and task prioritization routine that will align with adequate self care, and tending to home/personal obligations. (Caseload 5-7 high need families meeting at min. 2-3 times a week for min. of 3 hrs , team trainings on various days, onlinie trainings w/tests and quizzes, 3 supervisions outside of those already required for licensure, and 3-5 hou long team long meetings every week.....all of this is very consuming and overwhemling in my opinion). ...Extensive online training for FCT model with tests and quizzes expected to be done simultaneously while maintaining a high need caseload. Does not allow much time to really "train" and internalize the information. No traininig at all on basic functions (navigating the database/system, etc.) ...Disproportionate amount of micromanagement and criticism considering the lack of training, guidance and support, and effective communication. ...Leadership seems to have favorites, and if you don't adhere to their "commands," they will make it known that you are not among the favs. by singling you out, questioning your every , micromanaging, devaluing you, disregarding your input etc. and just treat you unfairly. They make it clear in every opprortunity they find, that not everyone is "cut out" or "fit" for FCT and that is their tactic/mindset that allows them to turn a blind uncaring eye to their systemic issues and further making you believe that you are the problem/ inadequate. I learned really quick that FCT presents challenges and struggles for EVERYONE, as it definitely requires many adjustments and sacrifices for EVERYONE and most struggle with this model. ... If you even simply mention your concerns to them expecting to be met with understanding and support, and/or solutions...it will backfire and you will hear your words used against you at some point. ....Compensation extremely dispoportionate to the amount of work/travel/gas/time actually expended. Salary is decent but not nearly enough for all that is required of you.

We are disheartened to hear your experience and want to assure you that we take all feedback seriously. We value all of our employees and will always listen to concerns regarding schedules or ways to improve work/life balance. We agree that we have a great team of clinicians and that we provide a great opportunity for our employees. At the end of the day, client service is the core of what we do and we want our consumers to be well taken care of. Thank you for your time with Access Family Services and best wishes in your career.
