More lows then highs but I stuck with it because I enjoyed the work with my clients.
Pros
-Access to online continuing education -Given a choice about working during the summer -Average pay -Caring supervisors
Cons
-Often had to do paperwork at home off the clock without pay -Management at times invaded boundaries. Calling after hours and on weekends for non-emergency work matters. -Unprofessional behavior from some in management. Sharing personal matters about employees with nonessential individuals -Not reimbursed for mileage for home visits (which were required on a monthly basis - at least) -Redundant and excessive paperwork -Supervisors overloaded which prevented them from fully assisting with crisis when needed -Difficult to maintain balance between professional and personal life. Urged to practice self-care but nothing was in place to ensure counselors were able to do this without repercussions (if took time off)
