Pros

Great learning opportunities. Some of the best professional development. Loved working with kids and families who really cared.

Cons

Long hours, non-collaborative work environment, strange company culture (lots of gossip, talking about other teachers, trying to "beat" other teachers' data). There is overall a lack of compassion, camaraderie and teamwork both among and between different grade teams.

Thank you for your feedback! We’re happy you found value in our professional development and enjoyed working with our kids and families. It is unfortunate to hear about your feelings about our staff culture. Your experience does not align with most of the other feedback we’ve received but we will definitely continue to focus on building and maintaining a tight and positive staff culture.

Terrible Employer

Pros

Since turnover is so high, CCS brings in cohorts of idealistic, smart, and dedicated teachers on an annual basis who are a pleasure to work with. After 3 months, most of them will be gone.

Cons

You won’t learn anything meaningful about how to be an educator at Classical. Instead, you’ll learn how to subject students to a racist, rigid behavior management system while repeating curricular scripts intended to pass as classroom dialogue. Attrition is high and network management is at best chaotic while teachers are subject to routine degradation in the name of “coaching” and “support.” Consider this a warning and pass over this employer alongside all “no excuses” charter schools.
