High expectations, very young staff, little exercise for scholars, sharp learning curve, professional development is still evolving, difficult work life balance leading to high teacher turnover

Thank you for your feedback! We are thankful that you were able to identify some of the pros to working at Classical. We do have high expectations for staff and students but we try to balance those expectations with high levels of support where necessary. And while our staff turnover is improving, we are constantly looking for ways to make working at Classical rewarding and sustainable for all of our staff.

Pros

Great learning opportunities. Some of the best professional development. Loved working with kids and families who really cared.

Cons

Long hours, non-collaborative work environment, strange company culture (lots of gossip, talking about other teachers, trying to "beat" other teachers' data). There is overall a lack of compassion, camaraderie and teamwork both among and between different grade teams.

Well run school with lots of support for teachers

Pros

People at the school are highly motivated, competent and willing to take time to help you improve. Professional development is strong. Things are organized and well run. Kids are in control. Raises can be very generous, especially after you make it past your first two years of teaching. There is lots of opportunity to grow into leadership roles.

Cons

The hours can be long and above & beyond efforts are not always recognized. Sometimes it can be hard to stick to the tight schedule.
