Pros

Learning opportunity. Good managers are available but not plentiful

Cons

If manager above you has poor sense of managing job costs for construction on your deals, your salary will be affected adversely.

Pros

The company is what you make it. It is a great company owned by Warren Buffett who takes care his employees. As long as the salesman are selling homes your job security is good.

Cons

The hardest part of the job is just trying to get a customer to visit a home center when they are unsure if what we offer is the right fit

Pros

Other team members , working with customers

Cons

Pay, benefits, management, construction, NPS calls, after sales service. There's not a lot of good. Selling to customers is great fun and enjoyable but it's all downhill from there. Working from 9am (you're expected to be there at 8) till 7pm (if you're lucky enough to not have a customer come in late) during summer, every Saturday, and then "rally nights" staying till 9pm. Doesn't matter how much you put in your deals, somehow "mysteriously" you never end up with what you started with. Clayton maths. And then there's the endless complaints about service, and contractors: but none of them lose 2% of their commission with the NPS call six months later. And then, as a final joke, after the NPS call, no one bothers with the poor customer again after that. Take home pay is about $280-300 a week. Benefits suck: massive deductibles before copay kicks in. Really there's nothing good about it other than working with customers. We have a rusted on long time staff member here who actively complains about the job, runs two businesses from here, is flat out mean to us when we "bother" him with job related inquiries, and rolls his eyes at customers and he's just loved by management. So over working 50 hour weeks for no money. Don't do it. Just DON'T do it. Or at least check out the salaries of sales people in the area you're applying for.
