Pros

Working at ClearView provides great opportunities to rapidly learn industry content and professional skills. The people are smart and motivated and most genuinely care about making a positive impact on the healthcare industry.

Cons

Work-life balance is not really respected, with weekend work often expected without gratitude or apologies. Many projects are not properly scoped or staffed, leading to burnout. Lower-level employees have limited say in staffing decisions, which can lead to being staffed on projects with no content background rather than being staffed according to strengths/prior expertise.

Pros

ClearView provides its employees unparalleled opportunities to build core consulting skills and gain broad expertise in the life sciences industry. New hires, who often come directly from undergrad or PhD programs, are given significant responsibility from Day 1 (for example, new hires often present to clients in their first project). ClearView has a strong focus on mentorship and professional development. Employees also receive frequent, constructive feedback, which is helpful for promoting rapid development (although it is worth noting that high-achieving individuals may find it initially difficult/demoralizing to transition to an environment with frequent constructive feedback). The company is also growing rapidly and is conducting an increasingly wide range of projects (we are expanding beyond our "bread and butter" opportunity assessments and indication prioritization projects into launch planning, corporate strategy, etc.).

Cons

ClearView has experienced rapid growth since over the past few years and the growth trajectory continues to look favorable, despite the coronavirus pandemic. However, rapid growth has caused a number of growing pains, and the company no longer has the same "boutique" feel as it did a few years ago. Work-life balance is also unpredictable, as it is at most consulting companies (though work-life balance is significantly more sustainable at ClearView than at investment banks). ClearView also has a ways to go in terms of recruiting and retaining a more diverse workforce, but the company (including senior leadership) has recently begun to heavily focus on this area by hiring external consultants, creating a diversity and inclusion internal initiative, etc.
