There’s a meaningful opportunity to positively impact students—if you're willing to overlook the inadequate compensation.

Cons

The pay is underwhelming, and performance incentives are virtually nonexistent. You often have to threaten to quit just to get a counteroffer that reflects your value. My advice: negotiate aggressively upfront because raises or bonuses are rare, and merit increases barely make a difference.
