Pros

If you have a passion for cosmetics and sales, this is the place to work. You can make decent commission and the training program is extensive, paid for, and they believe to sell the brand, you must use the products. This translates to $350.00 of gratis every 3 months. Culture is everything.

Cons

Culture is very clique-ish. Somewhat cult-like. The training on skincare is inaccurate, although they really do a great job of selling their belief, which in turn will help you sell and up-sell products...but if you have a soul and do not wish to misinform people, I wouldn't recommend working here. Artistically stifling.

Pros

Working for Clinique was one of the best jobs i've had. They treat you so well. Training was always the thing I looked forward to. You got to meet people from other counters and have an entire day or sometimes two days of learning about skin care and what goes into your makeup and how it truly works.

Cons

I didn't get paid very well, and being part-time your hours were through Macy's. Some weeks I would get as little as 12 hours per week.

Meh.

Pros

Education in skincare...even if you wonder if all of it is correct. Gratis, discount on products under the Estee Lauder umbrella, helping people feel great about themselves.

Cons

Rigid, strict dress code. Pressure to meet high goals which is customary in retail cosmetics. Clinique has affordable product, so it can be tricky to make it add up. You feel like you are pushing a bunch of products when most people don't want to put 6 layers of goo on their face twice a day (not counting makeup). Calling people constantly. You feel like you are bothering them, like a telemarketer.
