Pros

Remote work gives you some reasonable flexibility and the individual contributors I met were absolutely fantastic people. They're about the only thing I'll miss from working at ClockShark.

Cons

ClockShark was the worst experience of my professional life. The CEO of the company is in way over his head and overcompensates by micromanaging. He's not interested in doing anything different than he's always done, then will blame his team for not seeing different results. He will continually ignore advice and suggestions from professionals, claiming that he knows more than them. He will not change his mind, even when presented with data showing that he is wrong. If you have other job opportunities, I would strongly recommend taking them.

This review appears to be from an employee that was just let go for not being a good fit for the role they were hired for, and ensuing lack of performance. Micromanagement only occurs at ClockShark temporarily and when needed to bring an employee or function back on track because the basics of the function are not being performed well. If you are being micromanaged at ClockShark, it is most certainly because you are not performing your job well without the guidance. We've very infrequently needed to let people go for performance, but it happens. I always take responsibility for this as CEO, as it's indicative that we hired the wrong person for the job. So it's an opportunity for us to improve. As a high-performing culture, we have the expectation that our teammates will learn, grow, and perform at the top of their game, in a way that helps the team win. We believe winning is a team sport, and not everyone fits well into our culture. If you like performing high, and being coached and expected to do so, I welcome you to join our team of like-minded people that are excited about helping the company win, and come win through growth in your career and skillset as an individual. If you want to work somewhere that you'll be told your mediocre work and performance is great - or even acceptable - this is not the right environment. Please see other reviews for my approval rating as CEO. As CEO I grew the company from zero to what is is now, and I am more than well-equipped to take it through to the next stages. Please draw your own conclusions based on the overall performance of the company, recent investment and acquisition by simPRO and the company's continued growth.

Pros

Was once a great company that truly cared about their employees with great core values and a mission to "create love"

Cons

After hiring one person, that person hired their friend, and then their friend, and their friend, and so on. Lost a lot of folks who were there a long time and others who were deeply committed to the company, rather than helping people adjust. The company is going through a lot of changes and upheaval right now.

Thank you for the feedback. I agree with your concern on the "pod of friends". Two weeks ago I made changes to address this - and some people left the company as a result. Certainly a learning experience for me as a CEO. I believe we're still a great company and our mission to create love with our users is still our mission and still what we all should be focused on doing here at ClockShark. Thanks again for the thoughtful review.

Making Moves!

Pros

The company is growing rapidly and adding experienced leaders to the team. The revenue growth is strong and VP of Growth is making progress in building a capable marketing engine.

Cons

There are some challenges with current processes that make getting features done difficult. Founders are still learning how to scale the business beyond the current phase. The code base is in need of major refactor to be more effective. Not a very diverse team overall but especially in engineering.
