Don't do It

Pros

Good people with honest intentions.

Cons

Cloudera is all about going public. It's not about the customer or making a difference that is long lasting. Sad really because there are some good people at Cloudera. The new sales management means well but has little to no start up experience and they are not able to create the material and messaging necessary to help either employees or their customers succeed.

Pros

Great technology and in the beginning we were empowered to build this dynamic organization.

Cons

New management has caused layers of hierarchy and no clear company strategy. Many good people are leaving.

Middle Management is killing this company

Pros

* Execs care about the employees and are trying hard to right the ship * Values are put into practice by the execs * Rank and file Clouderans are smart and willing to help each other * Certain Cloudera groups (diversity & inclusion, recruiting, hr) try very hard to inspire employees

Cons

Biggest problem is middle managers that do nothing but go to meetings, sit in councils/committees and create slides. Here's a little secret: besides the proprietary components, Cloudera doesn't really do Product Management, they do Product Marketing and their Product Management leadership is really just Product Marketers with Product Management titles. No surprise then that (as other reviewers have said here) product managers do not use the product and therefore have no respect from the engineers. To boot, these guys are terrible managers: most direct reports leave the company or try to move to another group within a year. If you want to just do slides this is the perfect job for you. If you want to do real Product Management stay away!
