We believe that to give our best at work and also live a well-balanced life, we all need to take time off for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. Our flexible PTO and Unplug Days are applied globally to ensure employees are able to unwind and spend time with friends and family. Our goal is to provide you with all of the tools you need to achieve a positive work-life blend, and feedback is a key part of this process. If you would be open to sharing more, we would love to hear your ideas on where we can improve.

We are continually working to improve the employee experience at Cloudera, and this includes ensuring our people are able to constantly develop, and are aware of the options available to them for advancing their career. Cloudera are also increasing manager training and employee communications so people at all levels have a better understanding of the organization and strategy.

Pros

This is a company with high ambitions in a territory with strong concurrence. It has matured a lot in the last 5 years, going from a start-up like, sometimes chaotic feeling (everyone does everything) to a company with structure and separated responsibilities. The hierarchy is still rather flat. Peers in my team at least are bright and motivated aka we are in one boat, and it does make a difference. All are very helpful, you can ask them for help at any time. The work of colleagues is acknowledged, and there are career progression possibilities. They are not free, however, it does not come with time or age, one has to put in tremendous effort, but it is noted by managers.

Cons

The company is on rough waters right now (like many others), there was a round of layoffs. Dialogue between different teams is not so great, and that is visible on the product unfortunately, it is cluttered. There are efforts to make it better, but there is still ample room for improvement. Overall, however, this is also changing slowly, with new managers realizing the shortcomings of nose-down focusing on their own team's product only. Though salary is still great, the replacement for stocks are something similar to stock options, and that is not nearly as attractive.
