Pros

Excellent atmosphere to be successful in sales. Competitive internal environment, but in a very positive way. Everyone at Cloudera, from SEs and the Professional Services team to Prod Mgmnt, to C-levels and co-founders all will jump in to assist a customer to be successful. It is the most amazing thing about working here...everyone wants to help. Plus, everyone here is insanely competent. Combine talent and the desire to succeed and you have a winning combination. The other high point from a sales perspective is the great product we sell. Cloudera helps businesses solve problems that were only dreams 5 years ago. Our product, Cloudera Distribution including Apache Hadoop (CDH) dominates our space with a higher market share than all other Hadoop distributions combined. We didn't luck into this...our product is that much better than Hortonworks, MapR or IBM. We hire or internally develop the highest number of project founders in the Hadoop ecosystem, including the founder of Hadoop, Doug Cutting, which means when we say something is going to happen in our product roadmap, we deliver!! The final thing I'd add is that customers and prospects are beginning to fully understand the value of their data and need a technology partner who can help them choose the best path forward to success and competitive advantage. We have conversations now that I only dreamed of having during my days with much larger multibillion-dollar ISVs. In the meetings we have now, the excitement in customers eyes is telling as they start to realize the massive power and potential of this new technology. Cloudera is going to be VERY successful for a long time.

Cons

I have been here for multiple years and do not yet have a negative comment to add here.

Pros

- The people!! Regardless of departments, the quality of people they've hired is incredible. - From a sales perspective, the variety of use cases for Hadoop keeps each day/phone call interesting. - Perks. Breakfast, lunch, coffee machines, a wall of snacks, commuter compensation, you name it. - Beautiful Offices in both Palo Alto and San Francisco - Incredible Opportunity to learn about the space, meet awesome people, and hone your skills

Cons

- A very corporate mentality for a 5 year old "Startup" company. - Line of sight to growth/promotion is hazy - Market is ever changing and the competitive landscape is getting full. - Sometimes they feel like the Yankees. Instead of promoting within, they hire the best free agents! - Office Politics

Cowboys and egos, if you believe in teamwork and trust, you need not apply.

Pros

Hadoop is really hot, and Cloudera has managed to be a leader in that space largely by being first and by hiring quality for the first 50 folks or so. Cloudera on your resume is a door opening credential.

Cons

There is no concept of teamwork at Cloudera a bunch of egos and cowboys, all the supportive team players in management left for healthier environments. Be prepared to keep an eye over your shoulder for trouble and view co-workers as competition rather than team-mates. Management is focussed on some IPO or acquisition and not at all concerned about building a decent company culture.
