Great learning experience, no upward mobility

Pros

-Cutting-edge product -Team-oriented environment -Amazing learning experience -Friendly team, company works to keep the culture -Office kitchen has some good options (though very noisy - also coffee machine is nasty) -People genuinely care. They want to talk to you and get to know you, and many hang out after work or on weekends. There are very few cliques -It's not a call-center type of environment. This was the biggest pro for me. 9/10 other places you'll be measured strictly on activity with very little feeling of team-oriented strategy contribution, but at Cloudera you are allowed much more flexibility to work as you see fit as long as you're driving pipeline and good business opportunities. Your ideas are valued and you're not competing against each other. PLEASE do not change this - it will immediately ruin the culture. -Catered lunches twice a week -Helpful training and learning opportunities -Great location with parking -Internal networking opportunities, interacting with lots of people around the company within sales and marketing -Good launching pad for career, as other companies respect the technology -A lot of the people on the SDR team are smart and driven, you'll be surrounded by good people. There were a few who in my opinion were just as good as many of the AEs. You'll have some lifelong connections -Diverse group

Cons

-There is no definitive upward mobility opportunity within the SDR team at Cloudera. People are leaving and taking great jobs elsewhere (me included). While it is a wonderful place to learn and springboard your sales career, you'll have to look elsewhere if you're looking to actually move forward (seriously, some people were 2+ years there and promised opportunity to be promoted) -Tough to ever work from home, even though we could easily have had 1-2 days of work from home per week -SDR management turnover -Cloudera is going through so many internal changes that it's hard to keep track of who leads what, who reports to who, and what to expect -Quota changes every. single. month. It doesn't make sense and becomes less and less attainable with recent internal changes. From what I knew this wasn't the case in the beginning, but as the company shifted it seemed as though the SDRs were just thrown a quota and told to go get it without and real support or guidance -You better get a good territory (Northeast or West), they don't shift quotas by the regions. I had two in under a year and it's not evenly split whatsoever -You're at the mercy of your AEs, in many cases
