Pros

Cloudera engineers, instructors and professional services people are excited about what they do. They're more than helpful and encouraging with questions because they understand that the more people we help accomplish their goals, the better we'll all do. Cloudera is a company that is engineering solutions to questions that customers are just now recognizing that they have. Therefore, everyone at Cloudera is more than happy to help me answer student questions honestly, from engineering to support to management. If you've ever worked at or with a company where you were afraid to suggest something or ask a "stupid" question, you'll be very pleased how you're treated as an employee or customer of Cloudera's.

Cons

Cloudera is moving so fast that there's often many ways that we can improve our own internal processes (or ditch them). We've recently "slowed down" a bit and are focusing on stability, and I think this will help very much in the long term.

Pros

There are plenty of interesting problems to solve. The company is growing quickly which means there are opportunities to decide how things will be done, to be part of an exciting phase in the company's life-cycle, and who knows what the future will bring in terms of IPOs, etc. The people I work with are smart, engaged, friendly, and they have a focus on getting stuff done. Big data technology is pretty cutting edge, and the tools and methodologies we're using will look good on my resume.

Cons

It's unlikely that non-technical friends will have direct experience with the technology (unlike some parts of places like Apple, Google, or Facebook). Cloudera uses an open floor plan which is very popular these days, but I miss the quiet of the offices I had in days gone by. There's pressure to deliver features to the market, beating competitors, which is reasonable, but sometimes the planning of what we will do doesn't seem to match what is practical to do in the time available; we make it work, but I'd like to be able to take a bit more time to do even better work.
