Worst experience I've ever had

Pros

Benefits and food. That's it.

Cons

- I was sent home for a week without pay because HR screwed up with processing my drug test before my start date (this is also after I had left my previous job to work at Clover). I'm aware of this happening to other people as well, so my situation was definitely not a one-off occurrence. When this happens, you will either get sent home after you've already started working or your start date will be delayed while you do a hair test. TIP: Be dehydrated when you do the urine test and do not give notice at your current job until your Clover background check is complete.  - HR and/or First Data frequently screw up paychecks and benefits for employees. The most common problems are that employees won’t get paid on time or have their benefits set up within a reasonable timeframe. Employees are often expected to resolve these types of issues on their own by calling a phone line that sends them around in circles and to even more phone lines. - The HR department appears to lack empathy, accountability, and responsibility. In regards to employee requests and issues, I've heard them say things like "they signed this thing, so they shouldn't be mad," "the employee is wrong," and "they are probably lying." They could be stressed, but that's not an excuse to dismiss or downplay valid concerns from employees (especially in a way that places blame on them). - Someone asked me about my race during the interview. I don't personally get offended by this question, but I think this occurrence shows that people are not provided with adequate training or guidance. Maybe they should have "known better," but people are not mind readers. There should be formal training for interviewing, amongst many other things. - Managers and leaders will often gossip like high schoolers behind an employee's back about their shortcomings. I would hope that most of these discussions eventually led to constructive feedback for the employees, but some of the things I've overheard were straight up petty, immature, and unprofessional. Some examples include "his voice sounds weird" and "this guy isn't 'bubbly' enough for his job." - It is common for people not to receive training or support. If you're part of a strong team that helps each other, then you will be fine. If you're part of a team that tears each other down, doesn't communicate, and sets each other up for failure, you're doomed.

Thank you for your response. We're glad you enjoyed the benefits and food. It is unfortunate the experience you had with your background and drug screening process. To our knowledge, Clover offered the employee the ability to make up the hours when they returned to work which seemed fair. No one likes a gossipy culture so we'll look into your statements and correct if managers or HR isn't handling situations professionally. In addition, we will coach/train all interviewers to ask questions that are relevant and legal. We had no idea that someone asked you this question, for that we apologize and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Any further feedback is welcome at hr@clover.com

Pros

My team of individual contributors is the most supportive and compassionate. I'm lucky to have them, but everyone is suffering from the poor quality of management and I feel bad for them.

Cons

No planning what so ever! Everything is a fire drill and burns people out for no reason. Very poor organizational communication.

Thank you for your thoughts. We are glad that you enjoy working with your team, that's very important. We are working towards organizing our work and workflow more efficiently as it relates to Clover as a whole. As a part of that, we agree we need communication and leadership to help us accomplish people feeling good about their role and contribution to Clover. We do hope that if you ever felt you weren't treated equally or with respect you'd talk to someone in People Operations or leadership that you trust. Feel free to email hr@clover.com if you'd like to expand on your feedback.

Hi, We appreciate your points and agree on the dogs but some dogs would eat all those snacks. We'd be interested in more suggestions on how to be laid back but not too laid back cause lazy for sure doesn't work in our world. Please feel free to send more thoughts to hr@clover.com if you have time. Cheers
