Thank you for your comment. CoBank is in a strong financial position, and we have shared our success with our associates through a generous short-term incentive cash program that every CoBank associate is eligible for. We are proud to share these earnings with not only our associates but also with our member-owners through our patronage program. All associates were also eligible for merit increases to positively impact their base pay. We would like to thank you for your time at CoBank and would encourage you to speak to your manager about your current workload and compensation.

Pros

Great benefits and yearly bonus.

Cons

Pay is below market value (even after the “market adjustments” that were done), cost of living raise is skipped some years. Depending on what project you are working on, you are expected to put in a ridiculous amount of hours. Holidays, weekends, with no additional compensation. IT and SDLC best practices are not followed and there is a major lack of testing which leads to their IT systems being a complete disaster.

CoBank has made significant adjustments to respond to the changing pandemic environment and pressure of a volatile job market. CoBank has evaluated compensation against market pay for all roles which resulted in market pay adjustments for many of our associates. We also classified over 95% of our roles as hybrid for a better work/life balance as well as adding additional headcount to ease workload pressures. We paid record high merit and short-term incentive awards, which were supported and approved by the Board of Directors of CoBank. Pros

CoBank is a mission Ed based bank serving Rural America. The bank offers an excellent benefit package for employees including 3 weeks of paid vacation that increases 1 day/yr until you reach 22 days. Their 40k match is also very good. The bank implemented a work from home policy pre-COVID but more about that in the Cons...

Cons

CoBank management is inconsistent at best. Several managers have received promotions only because of their longevity in a department. Unfortunately those managers tend to have minimal skills on how to effectively manage a group of people and teams start falling apart. Promotions from those types of managers are few and far between, especially if you don’t fall into the white male category. All HR policies are not enforced bank-wide as some are left up to management discretion. At the beginning of COVID the bank implemented a work-from-home policy which was very commendable. CoBank is now in the beginning stages of a voluntary return to office plan but some managers have pressured some employees to return to the office - the “voluntary” part has totally been removed from the employee.

Working at CoBank means helping to feed a growing world, keeping lines of communication open and ensuring that thousands of Americans have power, heat, and clean, safe drinking water. Thank you for pointing out the importance of our mission in your comments. CoBank also offers a comprehensive total rewards package that supports your health and well-being. Our goal is to provide benefits that drive a focus on wellness and prevention. Those benefits include the availability to work from home. If you feel as though you cannot speak to your manager, you can email feedback@cobank.com.
