Ever changing working environment - if you like an easy 9-5 number this isn't for you
Pros
Salary Benefits People - for the most part Beer trolley / incentives for contribution etc Nice office space, free tea / coffee etc Decent support from workmates You're able to put ideas forward & get involved with upcoming changes to the product / input system etc, quite like that kind of thing Working for a growing company, lots of opportunities to work elsewhere in the business if you're into moving up the ladder / exchange programme with US etc
Cons
I actually enjoy the research work & I feel like I make a difference for my clients & my market but the last 6-12 months has been difficult to not look elsewhere, regardless of how much my wage increases. It doesn't solve the problem. Very reactive business model, seems like little forward planning is done at senior level to minimise impact to researchers or our clients. The amount of people who are unhappy working here is draining, and compared to other places I've worked it sometimes feels more like a playground with all the moaning & whispering & backstabbing. If you don't want to work here, leave & stop bringing everybody else down. Nobody has enough time to do their job, the volume of work is unrealistic, unachievable & leaves you feeling incapable & useless at your job at the end of the week when yet again you've not achieved your targets even though you've knocked your pan in. Seem to think that throwing enough money at people will make it all ok & we should be happy because "we're getting paid a decent salary now". Money isn't everything but nobody actually seems to get this.
