Pros

CoStar goes a long way to provide unique perks (partly for the prestige it brings them, partly to help cut the painful attrition rate). They are making sporadic efforts to fix the issues that are causing so many to leave, and there are management staff in place who do go out of their way to make the experience a positive one - they are also beginning to promote from within rather than exclusively hiring managers from outside. They are a rapidly growing company that is constantly pushing the envelope for their products.

Cons

The last pro is also a con - because CoStar is constantly trying to do the newest and best thing, the disconnect between senior management and research/sales staff is huge. Contradictory information is given from manager to manager, metrics are changed at the blink of an eye, and you learn quickly not to rely on what you're hearing from management, because chances are it will change by next week. The pay-for-performance environment is made even more difficult to navigate by the fact that senior management can (and does) change parameters for minimum performance, bonuses and contests midstream. Even worse, dissent within the ranks is not tolerated - if you complain too loudly or to the wrong person, you risk having your bonus cut or your position terminated.

Wait. What? Seriously? Nothing...well, free oatmeal in the morning was cool. The fact that they let me go is also a pr

Cons

Nothing about this place makes any sense at all. It's like these people want you to come to work every day and just break things. Everyone looks homely and unprofessional. The work is remedial and crappy. You will most likely be smarter and more attractive than your "superiors" and they will resent you for it. I honestly believe these ignorant behind people only hired me to try and make me mad. It's crazy. Just don't work here...for your own good...and if you're thinking you really need to accept a job here out of desperation, I need you to understand that it is never even that serious at all.

Pros

If you are intelligent and hard working, you can rise rapidly here. In the year that I have spent with the company, I have seen many deserving employees rise from the positions that they were in. If you recently graduated college, you can position yourself to succeed over the long term, because you have are already a step ahead of your peers. The pay is not bad at all, especially considering the actual job. Building is great. CoStar has built a superior product and brand within the CRE community as well.

Cons

One of the biggest problems that the company has is the lack of intelligent employees. Many of them are lazy and looking to cut corners. Many of the employees have not been able to find a consistent job since they graduated college. The job can get mind numbingly repetitive, so try to look for new opportunities or projects within the company. They have new positions opening constantly.
