No job's perfect but for what I care about, Cockroach Labs is very close

Pros

- My co-workers are awesome and we have world class distributed systems engineering. I get to learn a lot as a result. - Less technical bureaucracy compared to my last job (easy to make technical changes and take on responsibility). - More opportunity to focus on just coding rather than being stuck in meetings (compared to my last job). - Relatively chill company culture. - Remote first culture.

Cons

- Pay is on the lower end for the quality of engineers we have, benefits are fairly minimal for the industry. - Path to promotion is unclear for my team due to changes in my team's management. - Things move relatively slow for a startup as code and technical quality is held to a high standard and is fairly opinionated.
