Pros

Great mission and awesome, talented team members.

Cons

Leadership is focused on money over impact and is very fragmented. The org operates more as a for profit tech company than a mission driven non-profit. The three co-founders seem to be on different agendas and certainly do not present as a unified front. High expectations with little support.

Mission-driven with intense but rewarding environment

Pros

Its rare to find a mission driven non-profit that operates as a startup. High degree of ownership, autonomy and ability to make a direct impact. The people here are collaborative and want to help each other succeed. It's a very AI first organization. Everyone has integrated Claude into their workflows in a serious and not lip service type of way.

Cons

This could be a pro or a con but its a very intense environment. Very ambitious goals and high standard for work. Can be hard to prioritize when your scope keeps expanding without anything being shifted off.

Real ownership, real mission, built for people who like to move

Pros

The mission isn't just something that that is just talked about, you feel it in the actual work and hear it in the student stories. Students and communities are the through-line for every decision, which makes it easy to stay motivated. I have a lot of autonomy over how I work and what I focus on, and the people around me are genuinely collaborative. Knowledge sharing is big and folks are generally always willing to pitch in and lend a hand. Also worth calling out that this org takes AI seriously in a practical way. People have actually built it into how they work and are continuously striving to be better at it. Some of the smartest people I've ever worked with. We have some great partnerships built out as well and the opportunity for impact really feels like its always getting bigger.

Cons

The pace and ambition are high, which I personally enjoy, but it can be hard to keep up when scope keeps growing without anything coming off your plate. We run like a tech start up and you have to be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to advocate for yourself when priorities start to pile up. The bar is high and if you're not excited to exceed it then this probably won't be the right place for you.

Toxic Company - Run

Pros

The mission and the students are amazing. That's it.

Cons

This organization has a deeply unhealthy culture. Leadership is far more focused on financial targets than on the well-being of employees, and the environment reflects that. Revenue goals are routinely missed, followed by sudden layoffs that seem to occur every couple of years with little transparency. Work-life balance is virtually nonexistent; long hours are treated as an expectation rather than an exception. Goals often feel disconnected from reality, driven by the CEO’s inflated sense of vision rather than by thoughtful strategy or data. Much of the company’s public image feels performative. Employees who raise concerns or provide candid feedback through internal surveys often don’t remain long afterward, which has created an atmosphere of fear and silence. Morale is low, turnover is constant, and many people leave due to stress and the toll it takes on their mental health. This is not a sustainable or supportive place to build a career. RUN!!
