Pros

When the economy is doing well there can be some great non monetary perks such as closing early on Fridays in the summer, gift cards for Christmas and employee lunches. Also, the support staff and many of the brokers are pretty nice, but the atmosphere is really different from office to office. The biggest pro is the opportunity to learn and its a great place for those right out of university who need work experience. You will defintely learn a lot about corporate culture and politics. If you are a top broker its fantastic.

Cons

Pay is horrible which is why most support staff are young and right out of university because anyone with experience will not work there for the pay they offer. If you are a female you can completely forget about any respect or opportunity to advance. Senior brokers get all the attention and some of them are really nasty and rude. Brokers who make lots of deals can do what they want and no matter how bad they treat people it doesn't matter. HR is completely useless and non-existent. There is no advancement opportunities unless you want to be a broker.

Pros

When the economy was up the company had a great family type of vibe even with the large size which was what I liked most about it, we would always extend meetings to discuss our lives outside of the office. I felt appreciated by management & we were often rewarded for excellent work through bonuses, lunches, closing a couple hours early, baseball games & the like. The company offers great health/dental/vision coverage & extensive vacation time as well. The company conferences are usually pretty great, a lot of learning but also a lot of fun. Employee/People appreciation week is a wonderful thank you that comes every year & the company appreciates its employees with lunches, drinks, dinners, free time off, etc.

Cons

A new President was hired to the company when the economy dropped & after that the family vibe was gone, the appreciation stopped, the company was completely restructured and our local management was replaced. After this happened our office became a very cold place to work, new management was very domineering, ignored many company guidelines & equipment requirements, made very little attempt to get to know the employees & were solely focused on making money. The company stopped recognizing anniversaries and employee excellence and also stopped promoting from within.

Could be an excellent place to work.

Pros

Good pay if you get regular raises. Good vacation benefits- 4 weeks max.

Cons

Seems to favor the "Good Old Boy" way of thinking. One manager laid off an employee to keep his buddy working. Each manager has their own agenda, not really teamwork. Any suggestion you make will more than likely be thrown in the trash.
