Pros

Excellent benefits (401K, paid holidays, decent compensation, bonuses, vacation, sick pay, floating holidays, depending on position - flexible work schedule)

Cons

They have this program called "Emerging Leaders" and some participants of the program are pretty good; however, they also have the good ole boys good ole girls network who should be called "Emerging Leeches". These are the people who continuously get promoted until they eventually hit a level of incompetence. These are the energy vampires. If you ever have to work for or with one of these insecure Emerging Leeches, they will basically try to force you to go through a hazing initiation and get branded with a CP logo and conform you to join their "network" of opportunity. Dare not resist or question their way of doing things, and you better not bring up the fact that their direction is not aligned with Leadership's goals and strategies. Nope, if you show any sign of not conforming to the "let's look busy" mentality, then you will be targeted and they will make your life a living hell until you leave the company. There are too many people trying to keep their and not enough people who just want to do their job!

Pros

Recognized as an industry leading company with great job security, fast pace, ever expanding and solidifying its roots for the South and Eastern seaboard as a great company.

Cons

In the Control Center their has been too many changes to keep up with. A reorganization of job titles/ pay /career progression matrix, CCOMs forced to rotate between all shifts, hundreds of operations added to the plate of an over piled workload, work arounds that are too many to count due to out dated proceedures and maintenance crews inability to maintain equipment, management imposed policies that hold Controllers to an unfair standard compaired to other sections of the Transportation Services and Operations departments, AND an over whelming Corporate and Management disconnect has created one of the worst atmospheres to work in that I have ever been associated with. With the work schedule next on the chopping blocks and the loss of 10 plus Controllers to frustrated retirments, lateral/promotional moves or to other better paying companies, the ever growing theme in the Control Center is to get out as soon as possible. Many controllers are applying for any and every job posted within the company only to be road blocked due to man power issues. A new Engagement survey was sucessfully completed in 2014 and the only results/findings that Corporate has released has been the over whelming percentage of emplyees that know the importance of their job in the the future growth and profitability for colonial. Any improvements are not to burden the companies wallet while squeezing every last drop of Loyalty out of the ones that are weathering the storm of evolution. I truly hope the Controllers finally get the recognition that is long over due, because an Industry leading company that pays the most stressful and highest deamanding job that carries this company on its shoulders and yet we are still being unappreciated with below national mid point pay. Sooner or later something is going to give and I hope Colonial does the right thing or this Company will continue being labeled as the "BLANK PPL TRAINING FACILTY".

Challenging, rewarding work, but not for the faint of heart.

Pros

Great people Safety focus Technical growth through training and mentoring Extremely challenging environment Feels like a small company but projects and technology rival those of a large company Many and varied project opportunities Few barriers between groups Open, honest communication is encouraged at all levels Very stable company Good benefits

Cons

Staffing levels - many pieces of the organization are ran on a skeletal staff The size of the employee base and the historic retention means that someone has to die for you to move up. Extremely challenging environment Ramp time into Colonial is counted in years A large percentage of the Staff is poised for retirement Work life balance is difficult due to low staffing and project load Potentially hazardous environment - It is a petroleum pipeline company
