Pros

Managers are generally pretty flexible and support a good work/life balance (this can also depend on your role/location). They encourage volunteering. They will take into account your time with a bank you are transferring from and give you an "adjusted service date" that allows you to get additional weeks of vacation sooner. However nobody will tell you about this option because they don't want people taking advantage of it, and it's like pulling teeth to get them to follow through with this.

Cons

Pay is not competitive, benefits are well under par for this size of bank, parental leave is not paid, HR is very unprofessional and inefficient, systems are very outdated, and the facilities/buildings are not updated or maintenanced properly (we're talking things like regular plumbing issues in buildings and sewage seeping up through the floor then the carpet never being thoroughly cleaned). I really wouldn't suggest Columbia Bank. There are so many banks/credit unions out there, you don't have to settle. People only stay here so long because they get "comfortable", and management has a habit of constantly force-feeding you the idea that this is the best place to work.

Pros

Homebuilder Finance Team and Step Child, B..: You were not even on my team, however you invested in me anyway. Thank you. D....: Everything B..... and D…. had said to you for me was accurate. I am glad they stepped in because I could not have kept my composure well enough to tell you myself. They say soft skills cannot be taught, however wisdom can be passed down. In nine weeks you invested way more time in me than necessary, resulting in showing me not only what I wanted to do but who I wanted to be. Thank you. Steve jobs was right when he claimed you cannot obtain the straight path to success everyone has in their mind. You can only see how you got to where you are at by looking back at the zig zag of your past. That being said, I can feel that I was standing on a major connecting point, especially now that I am starting to step off. Hard work does not make someone successful. Hard work is essential, though it is merely a job requirement or skill. The only true way to success is through other people who are willing to take a chance on you time and time again, whether that be a professor, employer, client, mentor, or friend. Thank you for taking that chance on me last summer. The only true way to success is through relationships built with integrity. What a smart slogan for a company have. A simple thank you email would not suffice. I hope this finds you well.

Rich cultural history, community engagement.

Cons

Non competitive pay. Antiquated benefits, processes and technology with no appetite or $ to change or keep up with industry practices.
