Pros

Some good people within the company. Working in agriculture. Pay is decent.

Cons

Extremely high turnover. Never experienced so many people disappearing without a trace. CEO & upper-level management only care about their bonuses; employees are just an added expense. Those who succeed at Columbia Grain are either part of the inner circle or have no work-life balance; work is their life and their job title is what defines them as a person.

Pros

If you're lazy but like to stroke the bosses ego, you'll get promoted in no time!

Cons

Keen on safety? Hard worker? Self starter? Understand deductive reasoning and problem solving? Know how to use basic tools? Welcome to life as a cgi minion. You're too valuable to promote. They need to to bust your behind to make sure the plant looks great and is running prefect the day before corporate arrives so they don't see the mess the plant is in 98% of the time so management can take credit for all your hard work. They'll overwork you, while letting others do the bare minimum, and then tell you you aren't doing enough

Pros

Most of the pros are actually back handed compliments. There is decent health insurance. Paid parking, but thats just so old guys can walk around and take notes about who’s not working! Who’s laughing and not chained to their desk! Nice view from the 29th floor, but you will find you want to throw yourself out the window on a regular basis.

Cons

Nepotism at the highest levels. Expect to be scapegoated and stabbed in the back on a regular basis. Insults and hostility are a normal part of the culture. Everyone has to constantly defend their positions, so work hoarding and sabotage are common place. A complete disdain for professionals and professional degrees. Connecting with the CEO on social media means Pro-Trump propaganda- the weird kind too. I guess this explains why it feels like I’ve been stuck in a really bad episode of the Apprentice! Absolutely no support from management- you are on your own. Foreign parent either doesn’t know or doesn’t care.
