      Pros

      Great benefits. Regardless of how demanding your job could be, management is very conscious of work/life balance. Even thought i did not work directly with students there was that feel good vibe working at an Ivy league school

      Cons

      Depending the size of the department you work for, opportunity of growth can be very limited. Some departments are just structure certain way, that do not leave any room to move up unless someone above you leaves.

      Prestige, connections to other researchers

      Cons

      Core facilities not up to other institutions. HR extremely unorganized, I didn't get paid for 4 weeks, no benefits enrollment until 1 month. Ethical conduct in research training is severely lacking. Poor morale among a lot of post docs. Buildings are not even adequate, our floor has been 96 degrees some days due to a malfunctioning AC system. Apparently a problem for 3 years.

      Mind games and politics

      Pros

      Chance of working with some great minds. A few in leadership positions are very good. Good benefits. Mailman School has some really bright individuals and strong leaders.

      Cons

      Very oppressive work culture. Surgeons are the worst. They are really not the brightest crowd, but have god complexes. Clinical research is sub standard and surgeons publish with zero quality standards. Very low pay. Tyranical leadership and some just dont care.
