Pros

Some decent people work there

Cons

Where do I begin? I was with the company over 10 years and towards the end it was sad because it went down hill fast. They make many changes that make no sense without any reasoning. Once a new system was put to a level of high efficiency or a process was worked on until it was at its best, they changed it completely or got rid of it to replace it with something even worse. The worst part was before they roled anything new out, they claim it was always tested before it started which was an outright lie. Advancement is a joke and the office pitics are sickening. There is very little room to move up and if you are not in the "cool" crowd and are not a brown nosing "yes" man, don't plan on going anywhere. I have seen many deserving workers try for high positions only to get turned down because they either had their own thoughts or ideas that went against someone else's and they gave BS answers when you asked for feedback after an interview. It was to the point that they had a "talent" committee which was comprised of the management team that was in the "cool" crowd. There was no such thing as team work either. In order to stand out in Management's eyes you had to step on your fellow co-workers. I can't count how many times I had an idea that would really help or one of my team mates did and we either shared it with a co-worker or manager only for them to say it was bad and then the next day they turned around to say it was their idea instead. So much backstabbing and it was sad. On top of that HR was a joke when reporting anything. The "Anti-retaliation" policy was a myth. Each time I reported something unethical whether it be a racist or sexist remark a manager made or a coworker basically getting away with murder, I got treated like an outcast and they would look for any way you can make my life miserable. This made it difficult for others as well who were so scared to speak up because they did not want to lose their jobs. Discrimination was a daily thing too. Whether your weight, skin color, beliefs, disability, you name it. They always found a way to make you feel unwanted. The other thing was if you were one of the few who stepped up daily and helped your team and were fast at your work, they would pile more work on you while a lazy co-worker who watched YouTube all day got away with doing nothing. Do yourself a favor and steer clear as far away as possible from this company. One last thing to note is that the benefits are laughable compared to many other companies. They got rid of the old psychiatric care and went with a third rate company that only refers to the bottom of the barrel therapists and psychiatrists. The health insurance practically covers nothing and dental is just as bad. The employee discount was decent, but whenever someone brought up how expensive the health insurance was compared to other companies, the only response was directed back to the employee discount on TV and internet. The pay was atrocious. There were many battles with canned answers from hr when someone who was there a long time with a ton of experience was getting paid less than someone who was just hired off the street with no experience. Everytime it was brought up, it was always met with the most run around answer you could think of.

Pros

Excellent pay for sales reps, complimentary cable, internet, & home-phone, excellent health benefits & 401k plan.

Cons

Long work hours, a lot of negative supervisors, & employees (not everyone is negative) high stress work environment. Took away work at hm program which helps so many families. Out sourced a lot of jobs oversees which customer's are very uncomfortable talking to reps in a different country whom they cannot understand.

Pros

You know your work schedule, M-F, every holiday and weekends off. TV & Internet are essentially free, just pay for the equipment.

Cons

So many things out of your control. Number of calls you can take are restricted even though you get a ton of pollution on your phone, i.e. non sales calls. You literally only take the order. Someone else builds the account and the services on the account. Someone else determines if it's serviceable or not. Another person does the install. So many people can affect the order. Someone else leaving off a service or selecting the wrong service, or not scheduling a port of phone numbers, or turning off the customers services early, or the tech not showing for an installation or even going to the install without a modem or cable tv box. It's not hard to get someone to sign up for service...it's just hard to get them service. So many customers call in that we can't provide service to and we will know it in the first minute of the call, yet we are still expected to spend 10+ minutes or so going through our consultative sales flow sheet, uncovering their needs and still getting them to sign, getting their hopes up, sending the order for a site survey which can take up to 7 business days to get a result on and then telling them, sorry, we're not able to provide you with service. This is the first company i've worked for where you don't get a pay raise after a year. Their quota relief for time off is a joke. You're allowed to submit for only half the time you can take off for quota relief. Also, it's clear who are the good supervisors and who are the "how much longer will they have their job" supervisors. You can only hope to get placed on a supervisors team that actually does their job and does it well.
