Pros

The children and families you meet can make this job very rewarding. When you quit this job and get a better job at a school district, you'll have a lot of experience.

Cons

I don't know where to start. The longer I worked for this company the more it seemed that this company really did not care about its employees at all. The worst thing you can do is give this company a clear schedule, they will take advantage of this and give you insane schedules that involve driving extremely far, have to take a three hour unpaid break, and then go back to work. Bssically all management and supervisors are hit or miss, you have your amazing co workers that make work fun and satisfying, and then you have your stuck up, only sees you once a month, supervisor that yells at you when your clients program isn't going exactly her way. These experiences may seem personal, but believe me these were concerns our staff constantly talked about. They train you very little for what is to come on your first day. It does not matter what your experience level is, they are desperate for people so they will hire you and then put you on cases you do not have enough experience for as long as you have the availability.

Pros

The company gives you opportunities to increase your behavioral knowledge by reimbursing for different certifications Depending on the client, the work itself can be very motivating

Cons

The job as a behavioral therapist can be very isolating at times and STAR does not do a good job of looking out for their employees to make sure that they are coping with the stress of the job

Pros

Satisfying work. You can really make a difference in these children's lives. Training is excellent, and you're given cases pretty quickly.

Cons

Supervisors are hit and miss. Most are very helpful and excellent to work with, but some are mediocre people. They have to hire a constant stream of people to deal with their high turn-over rate.
