Pros
Overtime is readily available, the managers mostly mean well, floor employees are helpful.
Cons
This position can easily be absorbed by a few other departments. The position requires you to be part engineer, part quality technician, part secretary, part manager and part logistics coordination. However, even with all of the responsibility of the role, you have absolutely no authority whatsoever. The people that will do well in this role are those that are comfortable doing what their told without understanding why, even when what they're told is counter to company policy, federal regulations and standard practice. This characteristic will become even more important once training (or the lack thereof) is mentioned. You WILL be required to coordinate your own training in the position. Again, all of the responsibility with no authority. Overall, the position will be made out to be far more complicated than it actually is. In reality, what makes the position difficult is a lack of direct leadership, lack of training, lack of authority and a lack of standards.
