Pros

CPI takes a sincere interest in finding and retaining good employees to work for the company. The company makes a serious effort to find follow-on work for employees when their contract support comes to an end, including carrying them on overhead if they believe the gap in funding will be for a short term. Senior management keeps employees informed on developments. They always give long advance notice if they are unable to keep an employee for financial reasons, thereby allowing the employee adequate time to find other employment prior to the termination of support and depart on good terms. The company has even found employment for employees after they had to let them go and rehired them.

Cons

The health benefits are not as good as at larger companies because the company size of 40 employees does not provide much bargaining power with medical insurance providers. Employees may feel isolated and find it difficult to feel a part of the company because most of the company is scattered across different government facilities providing on-site contract support. Every person feels the need to identify with and belong to a group, be it government colleagues or with other staff in the company. Senior management is sensitive to these issues and does what it can to reduce them through regular personal contact and organized social gatherings.
