IT department was run with a command and control mentality. No respect for anyone who was a non-manager. Professional IT people treated as children, to be seen and not heard. Do as you are told and don't offer an opinion. Overall moral of the IT dept was low. Since having left, many other also left, and the CIO was let go. So hopefully the department has improved.

Since, I worked in IT, they use all kind of Old age softwares, like VSS. They don't allow leave easily, you need to ask CTO permission for the same, most of the time they reject. You need to call and inform the manager even you are late by 5 mins late in the drive. Basically, you need to BEG for everything.
