Pros

Very few. Single provider clinics are exhausting. Management is not supportive. There is no real process in place for emergency leave or illness coverage.

Cons

Constant pressure to "move the meat" with insufficient ancillary support. Pay is not competitive. Ownership changes about every 3 years. Generally physician unfriendly.

Corporate medicine at its worst

Pros

Regular, steady work, mostly very busy with a broad array of patients. We see mostly workers' compensation, pre-employment assessments and urgent care.

Cons

The company is very focused on moving the largest volume of patients through with the lowest number of staff. The rate of turnover is very high both with providers as well as with support staff. Pay tends to be lower than average for comparable work loads. The EMR is cumbersome and not streamlined for the work, resulting in a lot of delays and down times. The computer system has daily down times, sometimes causing clinic function to come to a complete halt. Patients are often frustrated with wait times and lack of efficiency, lack of staff and limitations of the providers. There is a notable lack of continuity even for very complex cases at sites where they can't keep clinicians. Supervisors and leadership are overly focused on bonuses to the detriment of care for staff and patients. Providers are rewarded for overcharging insurers.

Pros

Flexible work schedules. Floor level support staff can really feel like family. Actual room for growth within company.

Cons

Where do I start. Concentra has all the tools to be an amazing place to work but fails to capitalize on almost all of them. Employees are not treated fairly here, support staff are grossly underpaid for the work that is asked of them. You have to be able able to perform dozens of tasks as a back office staff member as well as jump to the front desk and help that staff when things get busy AND go to the therapy department and cover for them when they need it. There are about 5 different computer systems, that go down half the time, that need to be maneuvered through on a daily. Seeing in the range of 100+ patients daily for 5 days a week can extremely tiresome especially when your check does not nearly match the work you put in. Raises and bonuses are impossible to meet and then when they are you end up with $30 that gets taxed so you really only get 18... Gee thanks. We receive google reviews weekly that are only meant as a pat on the back but actual patient surveys that effect bonuses can be destroyed just by 1 bad score. Management only cares about numbers, how many patients where seen, how fast where they in and out, how much money did the center bring in. If these numbers aren't being met then the staff shortens. 3-4 medical assistants seeing 100+ patients with varying levels of care needed is ridiculous and not taking into the fact that now those patients are waiting 1-2 hours to get seen and now they are mad and leaving bad reviews and now we aren't getting bonuses and raises because we we never put in a situation to ever get them. If one day thankfully is a slower day at around noon somebody has to go home early because our budget will be over but since the clinic is walk in only as soon as that person leaves here comes a bad trauma injury and 7 physicals and the rest of the staff is made to suffer. New staff member are never set up to succeed. They get put in a room in front of a computer to do outdated training modules for 2 days then shadow a colleague around for a day and are expected to be flawless at the job. The support staff that is designated to train them in a bind because while they are moving slower showing the new person all the ropes the bins are filling up and since they being hounded about turnaround times and patient experience they are in a lose-lose situation. Those flexible work schedules get nullified when a person walks in your doors 10 minutes before you close with a physical requiring 5 different services, but you must take every person that comes through so now you're at work for an extra hour but that extra hour in pay is never seen because you will be asked to come in an hour later the next day.
