      The DSP story is dead.

      Pros

      If you have good enterprise accounts, you can grow those accounts to the moon.

      Cons

      If you have to prospect, heavens help you. This product and space are too complex to sell into. The DSP (Digital Streaming Platform) story that leadership tells is not resonating with the market. No one cares about Flink. No one wants to use Confluent's version of tableflow. No one can articulate why Confluent should be ones taking these workloads instead of Databricks other than "we're faster." But we aren't cheaper and definitely not easier to use.

      Pros

      Great people and great CEO. Flexible hours and they fully support remote workers. Unlimited PTO

      Cons

      Constant turn-over and poor attrition. Disorganized sales org, no clear path for growth, poor enablement training. Having customers constantly confuse the company for Atlassian. Wearing multiple hats that you don't get paid enough for - as an AE, you are technically an SDR, AE, SE, and AM for each account. There is no organized structure to where clients move from AE to an AM or CSM.

      Started out good, went downhill

      Pros

      Product is challenging but interesting. CEO is brilliant, transparent and smart and the flexible remote working is a blessing.

      Cons

      Unfortunately due to some poor people team leadership hires, the culture at Confluent significantly declined after 2022. There was a lot of politics involved in all decisions, and half of the People Partner team was impacted by these politics. One by one, all the best culture carriers was forced out of the business. Changes by leaders would be hastily actioned without thought on the impacts on the business. I would caution before joining Confluent.
