Great Product, but some adjustments needed in the Sales Team.
Pros
- Really good leadership, at least in my team and surrounding teams. They don’t micromanage and fight for us. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely way above average. - The company is well-equipped with GTM tools. Not all of them are perfect, but it’s still well above average. - Easily the best health, vision, and dental insurance I’ve ever had (and no employee contribution!). - The product is amazing; it has the “early player/inventor” advantage and is trusted. - Amazing coworkers! People at Confluent are super cool!
Cons
- The shift to a consumption-based model has been confusing. It’s been almost a year, and it seems like no one fully understands it. - The CAR and SDR teams are experiencing conflicts instead of collaborating, due to poorly planned CAR KPIs. - Growth opportunities are currently limited. Hiring managers are looking for senior people in the market (given the high availability in the tech sector) instead of promoting overperforming internal employees, simply because that would require some basic training (most of the skills overlap). This is interesting because overperforming internal people have already demonstrated two key abilities: learning and doing the job. In contrast, external hires come in with zero knowledge of Confluent. Honestly, I can’t understand why external candidates are considered “less risky".
