      Conifer's Future is Bright

      Pros

      Conifer is a place where everyone truly is part of a family. We just went through a significant change in ownership and have a new CEO (end of 2020 and during 2021). The transaction really set Conifer up to be exposed to new capital markets and ways for Conifer to grow to development in more states. The expanded SLT team at Conifer truly does have a voice and can help make decisions to foster this growth initiative. Roger and ELT have been very transparent and great sharing these details!

      Cons

      If you don't like change and want to do the same thing year after year Conifer might not be the best place for you. Also Conifer needs to improve its technology in many areas of its business, but this is well underway.

      Keeps Getting Worse

      Pros

      Before recent loved this company. Great people and family culture. We work really hard and accomplish a lot. Some people more helpful and better than others still overall a good team. Even with turmoil of company being sold last couple years felt supported willing to see it out. Pay a bit low so would have rated a 4 before but now maybe a 2.5 or lower.

      Cons

      New CEO seems terrible. I'm in a management position and been in couple team meetings with him. He tries to sound like he cares about people but constantly seems to put us and the company down. Sounds arrogant and untruthful. Talks a lot but doesnt really say anything. He cant make a decision and always says let's ask Kim who is a consultant he brought in. Looks like the consultant is in charge. Feel bad for the executives and VPs. I think they trying to follow and support him but are not really informed of what he wants. They often cant answer our questions. We knew there would be some change with company being sold and hiring new CEO but not expecting it to be this bad. It's not the same company anymore. Morale is very low and getting worse. Lots of people talking about leaving.

      Thank you for the feedback. As you know, Affordable Housing is a complicated business. We have a brand new CEO, and he is learning a lot which takes time. In our business, we can relate to the construction concept, so please "Pardon Our Dust" as we assemble our Strategy. In fact, this week, the senior leadership team is off-site working on – constructing – clear direction for 2022. We are very grateful for our talented team members and look forward to creating an even bigger, better organization together – with a clear vision of where we are going.

      Rumors are circulating and heard he’s like a bull in a China shop. Nasty to one group and then the next day another group receives

      We value hearing feedback from our current and former employees. With just about 90 days in the role, it may be the case that some employees have not yet had a chance to connect with our CEO and learn first-hand the positive initiatives afoot. For example, we have launched several company-wide communication and outreach initiatives, such as Breakfast with the CEO, which will occur regularly once he is up to speed on the business. Our goal is to get it right and be inclusive yet also respond and adjust if we are not hitting the mark. One thing we wholeheartedly agree with is we are so grateful for the executive and senior leadership team (ELT & SLT)! We have confidence in these leaders and believe in partnership with our CEO, they will help lead our great organization to the next level!
