Pros

The benefits are good and generous PTO.

Cons

In addition to the complaints of Consor being discriminatory against people of color and the LGBTQ community, they also heavily discriminate on age. Several times I saw older workers let go and replaced with younger workers with little to no experience. I witnessed an older worker who went on leave be let go the day their time expired while a younger worker who took extended personal leave was able to stay on for close to a year. HR wants the image of a young hip workforce as the expense of older experienced employees.

We take this review seriously. I am sorry to hear that what you witnessed was confusing to make sense of, however, I can assure you that we have zero tolerance for any form of discrimination or exclusion, which is demonstrated both in policy and in practice. Older, experienced employees are undoubtedly valuable assets to our teams. While circumstances for taking personal leave are often complex and sensitive, caring for our employees is always our top priorty. Taking personal leave is almost entirely unrelated to involuntary separations. In an instance of involuntary separation, regardless of age, unless there is misconduct or policy violation, separation is typically a last resort after other measures of performance improvement have already taken place. We believe that tenured team members have a wealth of experience and knowledge from which they can mentor and support our more junior team members. With collaboration as a core value here, diversity of age and experience help us create better solutions together as we glean expertise, views and ideas from teammates with different backgrounds. Although you're no longer working with us, my door is always open. If you are willing to share additional details, please reach out. I’d like the opportunity to address the concerns locally and make any changes necessary to create a great experience for all team members. I wish you all the best moving forward.

Pros

Good work/life balance. Benefits. Most of the team works from home now.

Cons

Too much work which leads to staff burnout. Career growth is limited within the company. Merger went from being all about the people to all about the money.

I'm pleased to hear you felt supported by work-life balance and our benefits. Staff well-being is a top priority, and we take concerns about team member burnout seriously. In our industry, there are natural peaks in workloads, and we're putting in frameworks to better monitor and forecast those peaks so we can adjust. We're hiring more talent (250+ so far in 2023!) to help distribute those peaks. It sounds like we missed the mark while you were with us in relaying the tremendous career growth opportunities with Consor. We rolled out our career pathways program in early 2023, providing employees insight into the different opportunities to grow their careers alongside us as we grow together as a firm. We know career growth is not always linear or streamlined - it can be squiggly and take different turns. We're excited to provide team members with a program that puts them in the driver's seat, providing greater visibility into the different tracks available, how to pivot toward a different path when interested, and how to plan for growth with your leaders and mentors across Consor.

Pros

Responsive! I left a review for a company that Consor acquired a while back. The Consor Chief People Officer left me a response about how to address my issues. One of my issues was with professional development. They literally sent out a survey to all staff from our previous company about how they can increase employees' professional development. WOW! My manager is awesome. It makes a big difference if the person you report to finds ways for you to grow every week and works with others to make sure you are situated to do you best work. The company's resume is solid - the legacy company I was from has many skilled engineers that can help mentor you. Many great projects have been delivered and there are many strong relationships with clients. The company is building culture with fun activities at work and after work. I have been given opportunities to work on projects that I really enjoy. If you want to take your career in a direction, the company is the right size and adequately diversified so you can work to achieve your goals. Other pros: fair compensation, great healthcare, nice 401K, paid parental leave, flexible on teleworking, flexible on schedules, no expectation to go over 40 hours per week.

Cons

I think Consor has had a bit of a hard time adapting to the engineer shortage in my region since 2020. The company was fairly conservative in my opinion and has had some issues with retention in my region in the last couple of years. They have worked to address this recently with surveys, workshops, programs, adjustments, etc. I think the company is headed in a good direction now. Fairly common in our industry but OT is paid as strait time and only on billable hours over 40. To get to the stage of building Consor from many smaller companies, a little over 50% of Consor is owned by a investor group. The rest of the owners are employee owners. You need to get 40 hours in a week rather that 80 in two weeks, so you can't flex out your schedule between two weeks.
