Pros

Pay and benefits are decent. People are generally friendly, culture is good at the individual team level (for me at least).

Cons

-Mandatory on site -Wage stagnation -Mountains of red tape -Untrustworthy senior leadership During the pandemic, we transitioned to fully remote for most office staff. People were told this change was here to stay, and allowed to move all across the country with the promise that they could keep their jobs. A large number of people were hired fully remote as well. Last month senior leadership reneged on that and said "return to the office in 30 days or there's the door". Hundreds of people had no choice but to leave, and now some people are forced to commute unreasonable distances. I know one guy that has a 4 hour drive 1 way. All of this is touted to "improve culture", with no acknowledgement of how many people it hurts. On top of that, recent changes to the career ladder reduce the opportunities for advancement, and there now must be a "business need" for any promotions. My pay is already lagging behind where it would have been under the old system, and I am not optimistic that it will get better.

Pros

Coworkers are great, lower level management has also been good in my experience. Decent salary, but stagnant with no opportunities for growth the last few years. There has up until now been a good culture around work-life balance, and I hope that continues despite recent changes.

Cons

Upper management basically eliminated all existing good will in one fell swoop by eliminating remote work options. They are also planning to implement higher performance expectations, which means anyone who is left will be even more overloaded with work than they are now. It's hard to see how the situation can improve from here once the most talented people leave.
