The Global Supply Chain department of CooperVision fired 2 vital Managers; the Sr Manager in charge of the Planning and Purchasing Teams and the Manager in charge of the Purchasing Team (under the SR Manager). They were amazing people with decades of service to CooperVision, worked through every single vacation they took for Cooper, were absolute superior Managers and leaders, came into work early and left late every day for their love of the job and the people, and simply were the reason for our success. They were fired less than 2 weeks before Christmas after they successfully led a year long project to reduce our backorders below a certain dollar amount by increasing inefficiencies within the entire manufacturing and packaging operations. In the meeting to congratulate us (the Planning and Purchasing Teams) in meeting our goals, we wondered where our Managers were that led us there...the Director of Supply Chain and Supply Chain HR congratulated us, then said they were fired and walked out of the building as they were no longer needed. Keep in mind this was less than 2 weeks before Christmas, these were amazing people and more importantly to the company, amazing leaders that motivated the teams at work every single day to love what we do and why we do it. The company's reasoning was that their positions were 'no longer needed', but very shortly after, just put others in the same exact role they had. There's a lot wrong at CooperVision (especially Supply Chain), and this story only tells the tip of the iceberg of the unprofessionalism and disorder that CooperVision displays. There's a reason why all of the different suppliers of CooperVision hate to work with them... Truly an embarrassing place to call your place of work.
