Pros
Occasionally there will be managers and teams that support learning and moving technology forward, but then usually move on to better opportunities. The benefits are nice and competitive with market. Layout of the IT floor is decent, though the building, while old and sturdy, can be difficult to move about the building or get a signal on a wireless connection.
Cons
Isolation down to just you at most of the time. IT teams do not collaborate as a normal tech company would. Technology direction is based on the whim of the last business endeavor to occur and without consulting the IT teams to determine the best strategy. IT uses old technology and old standards while spending more time on maintenance tasks for this old tech instead of updating these decade old systems to newer low maintenance systems. Utilizes outdated testing strategies and does not invest into upgrading these strategies. Does not fully leverage Unit testing. Does not leverage any automated testing scenarios. Build and deploy mechanisms still rely on old copy systems and is prone to failure and data corruption. Deployment 'nights' are long and arduous filled with a serialized deploy of each system.
