Pros

Stable job, decent pay, lots of mandatory overtime because of abutments of short-staffed shifts. Some good co-workers.

Cons

The HR staff is rude and condescending. Management is terrible and they hire the worse people for Sargent, Lieutenant, and Captains. There are a few who are great but most are lazy, uneducated, illiterate, in general, don't care about staff when issues arise they are too busy watching football in the staff workout room, while C/O and Sargent do their paperwork for them so they can sit back and sleep in the admin office while everyone is working. If you have any HR problems with other employees expect every other co-worker and inmates to know about it before the end of your shift because management doesn't respect your privacy or company policies. If you plan to work here and you are female expect to be groomed by male and sometimes other female staff, not just inmates. If you get sexually harassed and report it to management expect it to be turned into a joke because it will and nothing will be done about it. If you report something and working a non-unit/pod post you will be removed immediately from that post indefinitely until they have no other choice but to put you back or they will post you wherever they think you will get tired of being at just to push you to quit. They will demand you to do things that are against policy and state law. If you do as they say, and if you get disciplined or terminated they will throw you under the bus to save their job. If you are a hard worker and do more than what you are asked by post orders they will take advantage of that and make you do twice the amount of work you are expected to do, including doing paperwork meant to be done by shift supervisors, work more than 4 posts in one shift, move you around every night so you can't be prepared for your shift. If you happen to complain or raise the concern with assistant warden you will be treated as sub-human from then on by your shift supervisors "If you see something say something" doesn't apply to staff or supervisors because "snitches get stitches". If an inmate tells you about a supervisor being "dirty (bringing in contraband)" and you file a report about and hand it to shift supervisor they will demand you to destroy the report and discard it and never bring it up again. If you read this and still apply you were warned.
