Pros

Some departments (ie Office of Sponsored Programs) are great. Good people, good bosses, good opportunities for growth and development. Endowed insurance is good.

Cons

Some departments, like Bowers, are awful. Run like a startup and expect you to make work your entire life. Terrible management who won't retire or change with the times. They keep hiring more faculty, but staff hiring doesn't keep up. That means there's not enough staff, which means there's no room to advance and everyone is overworked, under-trained, and stressed out. Pay is mediocre for the cost of living in Ithaca, and most people have to live nearby because their job arbitrarily requires them to be on campus one or more days a week.
