Pros

Steady payment. There are good employees committed to do their job but I cannot say the same about upper management.

Cons

No room for advancement unless you are friends with leadership.

Pros

Job experience. Work schedule - 9/80.

Cons

Uninspiring employees who ride the line and do the bare minimum based on union protection and interest in only getting a paycheck. Management walks on egg shells when it comes to disciplining employees with corrective action because of the unions and potential legal action by them on behalf of the lazy and dishonest employees. Good, hard working and high-contributing employees are not truly recognized because doing so would mean management would have to address the problem employees barely doing their job and work with them to help them get their performance up with the rest of the staff. So, good hard working employees and their contributions are down-played.

Pros

The County is both Unionized; and works in multiple division to better serve citizens throughout Riverside County. County gives you valuable work experience; great resume builder, and the ability to work proactively.

Cons

The county is known as "It is who you know, NOT what you know" that gets you the job. Unfortunately this saying rings true in many circumstances. There is lack of upward mobility, or promotion from within. The county pays minimal, and struggles in areas pertaining to approvals on increases in compensation between Directors pay; and that of entry level workers pay are continuously compromised and often times up for negotiation regularly. Level of work; and favoritism runs high due to managements level of mistrust in personnel and visa versa.
