Pros
Interesting projects but you’ll be micromanaged. Also, pro is the pay scale is published and you can look it up! Do not accept step 1 which is what they always offer as a default if you were making more at a prior job! You can negotiate and should always negotiate for it no matter what!
Cons
The management of the department is terrible.. While I was there it was all just Boomers doing their two years as “best and highest” to get their golden ticket retirement jackpot. One all us newer hires aren’t eligible for because they eventually changed the benefit rules when they realized they couldn’t afford to keep paying all these people $100k retirements (it’s a real thing! google CalPERS $100k retirement club!)
