Pros

Pay. Don't have to work as hard as private sector because of the unions.

Cons

Unionized, no incentive to work harder. Management for the most part would fail in the private sector but in-breeding is the norm. Won't hire someone really good for fear of looking bad. Mediocrity is the standard when a you are a unionized, public worker.

I’ll be truthful, as always.

Pros

The benefits are really good and you have an amazing union to back you (just make sure to pay your share, it isn’t much). You get flex credits for health care and a retirement through CalPERS.

Cons

They promote people who suck up instead of people who know what they are doing more often than not. That leaves a lot of supervisors or management who don’t listen to the workers who know what they’re talking about and create a lot of problems they continue to solve after it blows up.
