Pros

Good benefit package. Stable employer. Opportunity to serve the public effectively. Positive and professional work environment.

Cons

County government is bureaucratic by nature. Still too many instances of favoritism and borderline nepotism. Pay is mediocre.

Pros

I’ve been lucky enough to have supportive supervisors and regional managers in my years with the county. They always want you to succeed and continue to grow within the county.

Cons

My position does not pay into short term disability, so when I had my baby, my leave came straight from my vacation and sick leave. Other positions pay into short term and cover a percentage of leave.
