Pros

I have worked at several media companies and Crain is the most rewarding on so many levels. Their culture encourages new ideas and the company is stable and overall a very nice place to work in the city. Very happy I have found a home at Crain

Cons

Large work load, but that is common every where. High deductible health plan is unfortunate.

Pros

You know you are working for a great company when you enjoy the people and the work you do every day. Crain is the kind of organization where people are empowered to make a difference at the company every day. Senior leadership is inspiring and supportive, which is a hallmark of a great company. Benefits are solid, PTO is terrific, and the company has a fun charitable program, localized to each city, where employees determine which causes to participate in every year. As far as privately-held companies go, the Crain family is very generous to their employees, which exceeded my expectations. I am proud to be part of an organization that is confident with its strategic direction, and is successful in its market.

Cons

Moving a print media company to digital is a heavy lift, which means extra time and effort across all departments to support the transition. Work/life balance challenges exist from time to time.

Pros

Strong Management, Little to No Bureaucracy, Employee Morale is high and there isn't much turnover. Employees are valued and rewarded with annual pay raises and bonuses. Ideas are not only welcomed but encouraged and management is not afraid to let the stars shine rather taking credit for the efforts of subordinates. There is an environment for team work and shared goals so people aren't fighting for attention. Everyone has an opportunity to grow and learn.

Cons

Not as many holidays as most places and medical benefits are just so-so
